First Day

I kept telling myself I would get to sleep when I got to my room. With that in mind, I was able to stay sane while not being able to sleep on the plane. I can not sleep on planes. I even got a prescription for xanex (which works great for my anxiety, go figure) so I could sleep, took two...didn't work. So I was woring on about 4 hours of sleep from the previous night upon my arrival.

I finally got to the room at around 8 pm and was so excited by everything in it that I didn't get to bed for a couple of hours. It's so cute!! Here are some photos. Things I wasn't expecting: the size of the room, a hairdryer, ethernet cord, heat, 2 rolls of toilet paper.

After sleeping like a baby in the huge comfy warm bed (finallllyyy) I woke up at about 4 in the morning, which is 2 pm my time. I got up and did most of my unpacking and then went to meet the rest of my dormmates. I'm so excited to meet everyone and want really badly to be friends with them...I might have come off as a little desperate. I hope we can all get along and go do stuff in groups. I think a lot of people are closet anime nerds like me. It's so funny. You think someone's totally normal and then they same something and suddenly...you know. Fay bought a shojo tankoban at a convenience store. I need to work up the courage to look for a Gush or Be-Boy. ( D: )

We had orientation, which was long and not boring, but by the end there I was suffering from serious jetlag. I'm really excited for classes to start. I also got to see Abby and Maria :D

On the way home, we rode the train during rush hour, and I got separated from the group for a while, and I got really nervous about how I was going to get out at my stop. When we got to the stop I said "Suimasen!" but it turned out I didn't even need to, everyone just pushes eachother. I felt kind of stupid.

On the way back home I talked with Natsumi, one of our student leaders who is a native of Tokyo. I saw a poster for KAT-TUN, a boy band I like, and I pointed it out. She was like, "you know them? whos you're favorite?" and I was like, "uh, kamenishi of course" and she was like "no way you really know them!!" Yea, it was cool. And kind of dorky.

After returning from orientation, Fay and I were hungering for some serious grocery food, so we hit the local grocery store, SEIYU. I bought eggs, tangerines, frozen o-den and semi-dried udon, and an onigiri. I am so excited. I ate some of the o-den, it was super delicious. I can't read any of the instructions for cooking the food, so I've just been guessing and relying on google.

Fay helped me out a lot. She knows so much! :D Li was very helpful as well, he's lived here for a semester already. I need to pick up more. It's also totally scary when someone tries to speak to me in Japanese, even if I know what to say, I freeze up and I don't remember until later. GAH!!

It's about 7 am, I'm going to go boil some eggs for breakfast. :D
